Mark Chen

Mark Chen is a multimedia artist who uses photography, technology, creative writing, and performance to explore his love for science. He has traveled to locations throughout the United States to capture images of iconic landscapes, such as the remote wilderness of Sierra Nevada, to use as backdrops for his storytelling. His work has been featured at Fotofest, Houston, Conference of American Wind Energy Association, Austin, the Griffin Museum of Photography, Winchester, MA, Houston Center for Photography, Art Car Museum, Houston, and the Artists’ Cabin, Taiwan. He is represented by Foto Relevance, Houston, and Galería Photo/Graphić, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. 

Chen holds an MFA degree from the University of Houston and has taught at the University of Houston, Houston Baptist University, and the Houston Center for Photography, among other institutions. He is an avid author, publishing eight book titles on photographic art and techniques with Amherst Media, Bloomsbury, and Routledge. His latest publication, Photography: A 21st Century Practice, is a photography classroom standard.
