1150 Bissonnet - site of HCP’s new creative campus
HCP has identified an extraordinary property that will become our permanent creative campus—two historic buildings designed by renowned Houston architect William Ward Watkin. This acquisition represents far more than a real estate investment. It is an opportunity to preserve an important piece of Houston's architectural heritage while creating a dynamic cultural resource that will serve generations of Houstonians. HCP intends to pursue historic preservation designation for the building, ensuring that this significant landmark remains an enduring part of the city's cultural landscape.
Ownership will fundamentally transform what HCP can accomplish. A permanent home will provide the stability to expand educational programming for youth and adults, deepen partnerships with schools and community organizations, increase access to free exhibitions and public programs, and create new spaces for artists to learn, create, and connect. It will also strengthen our long-term financial sustainability by allowing us to invest in our future rather than in leased facilities.
