Foto Futures 1

December 18th 2025 to January 4th, 2026

Opening Reception
Thursday, December 18th, 6pm–8pm

Houston Center for Photography proudly presents the inaugural exhibition of Foto Futures 1, celebrating the creative achievements of high school students who have spent twelve weeks immersed in college-level photographic study. Through intensive studio practice, critiques, and mentorship from working artists, students developed original bodies of work that reflect their technical growth, artistic discipline, and emerging photographic voices.

The exhibition features a dynamic range of projects—from experimental processes to documentary narratives rooted in personal and community experience. For many participants, including those attending on full scholarship, this marks the first time their work has been professionally printed, and exhibited in a public gallery. The exhibition underscores the transformative impact of providing young artists with rigorous instruction, access to equipment, and the opportunity to engage meaningfully with Houston’s vibrant arts community.

As Foto Futures continues to grow, HCP will expand its offerings to include two additional tracks—Commercial/Editorial and Creative Careers—broadening the pathways through which Houston’s youth can build skills, gain mentorship, and envision futures in the creative economy.
