Lexi Parra
Lexi Parra is a Venezuelan-American freelance photographer, editor and educator currently living in Houston, Texas. Her work focuses on youth culture, migration, the personal effects of inequality and violence, and themes of resilience. In both stills and motion, she tells complex and empowering stories that reflect life in their honesty, beauty, and intimacy. She has a joint degree in photography and human rights from Bard College, New York.
Parra’s work has been supported by Getty Images and the Pulitzer Center. As a visual journalist, she balances art, storytelling and journalistic standards. From Caracas to New York and Texas, Parra works with publications like Washington Post, NPR, The New York Times, and others.
Parra is the founder of Project MiRA , a photo education initiative that fosters visual literacy and empowerment with young women in the barrios of Caracas. Project MiRA has been supported by The US Embassy, Canon USA, and the Davis Peace Prize. She is the community manager at Women Photograph, as well as a member of WP, Diversify Photo and NPPA.
