Girls’ Own Stories uses photography, collage, mixed media and writing as a means of creative expression and empowerment for K-12th grade girls. The program is designed to help girls develop their technical skills in photography and storytelling as they learn about the contributions of women artists by viewing and discussing their work. Girls create journals to write about their experiences and respond to prompts provided by the teaching artist, offering them the space to reflect on their images and help promote self-awareness and confidence.
