Violette Bule

Violette Bule is a Venezuelan-Lebanese conceptual artist holding an MFA from the University of Houston. Her work engages with a wide variety of topics, including migration, identity, memory, violence, community engagement, digital technologies, the politics of space, and the social and political reality of contemporary Venezuela, and has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Bule was selected as a participating artist for Insta11ations artist project organized by Art League Houston, the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, and Houston Arts Alliance in Houston, Texas. She was also the recipient of a SOMA SUMMER - MEXICO CITY grant awarded by the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, and was awarded an artist residency by the Romance Studies Department at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.

Bule currently teaches at the Houston Center for Photography and brings a wealth of experience from past educational positions at photography institutions in Venezuela focusing on a wide variety of subjects (from foundations to conceptual). In addition, Bule has led photography workshops for social community engagement at numerous international art residencies.
