Cristina Velasquez - Bestiario
Bestiario explores the intersections between memory, identity, and imagination through a view of playfulness and introspection. The series starts with archival family photos, in which people's faces are superimposed with illustrations of animals, creating evocative collages. Both sources—photos and illustrations—come from my family archive, linking two distinct but intertwined areas of visual heritage. Each composition is then superimposed onto textiles from the same archive and re-photographed, introducing a tactile dialogue between the personal and the symbolic and deepening the connection between memory and material life.
