This energizing, practice-driven course for emerging and mid-career photographers ready to turn their creative vision into a sustainable career demystifies important professional practices in the photography world. Across five focused sessions, students learn to pitch their work, navigate portfolio reviews, apply for open calls and funding opportunities, build and sell an archive, and understand editions, print sales, and editorial opportunities. We will dive into representation—developing professional websites and social media, approaching agents, galleries, collectives, and foundations—and explore publishing through photobooks, distribution, and festivals. The final module unlocks exhibition essentials: scenography, artist fees, contracts, storage, handling, and sustainable, alternative income models. Through lectures, group discussions, and real-world examples, participants gain the tools to confidently position their practice and grow professionally.
